Hopeless love for a married man, caused Nellie Lamont, inmate of a house of ill-fame, to murder her lover, Albert Wenrich, a saloonkeeper of this city, and then attempt to take her own life.

Wenrich, who was of magnificent physique, was last seen in the room occupied by the woman in Clara Devine's Resort at 4:30 o'clock yesterday morning. When the police entered the place Wenrich was cold in death and the woman lay groaning in mortal agony on the floor, a bullet in her throat.

Wenrich was 38 years of age, and a former policeman on the Butte force. The woman is a Spaniard and once before attempted to kill Wenrich by cutting the arteries in his wrist. She is in a local hospital and not expected to live.

Birth Record of Kittie May Shay

Kittie May Shay was born 31 May 1888 in Illinois; married James Howard Lewallen 1 April 1911 in Weiser, Idaho; and died during the flu pandemic on 5 Jan 1919. Her death certificate gives no mother's name, but her father's name is George.
I found a Kitty Shay (b May 1888, IL) living as a stepdaughter in the 1900 US census taken in Illinois. Her stepfather is John Sanderson b 1828, OH. Her mother is Lizzie, married one year; mother of 3 children with 3 living; born May 1865 in Penn. The census gives her father's birth place as Illinois.
I found a George J. Shay on an 1880 census living in Delvan, Tazewell, IL, as a son of Aaron Shay. This George was born in Illinois in 1863. I also found in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index the marriage record of George Shay and Elizabeth Middleton dated 6 Jun 1882.
Next, I found a listing on Rootsweb of George and Elizabeth and one child, Nelly C. born 4 Oct. 1882 in Delavan, IL.
I sent to the Illinois Regional Archives Depository and received this birth record. Kittie's name is not on the record, however the birth date and father's name match those given on her death certificate.
