HELMS -- Feb 3 at the family residence, 958 East Couch et. Lucy Edith Helms, aged 7 years 3 months, beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Helms. Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services which will be held at Holman's Chapel, corner of 3rd and Salmon sts. at 2 P.M. Wednesday, Feb 5. Interment at Lone Fir Cemetery.

blogger's note: I called the funeral home and they confirmed that Lucy's mother was named Hannah and born in Cleveland, and the father was born in Shawnee county. My research found he was born in Kansas of which there is a Shawnee county.
Mystery: Are the Helms who are buried near Lucy her grandparents?
Thank you, Russell Aldridge of Metro in Portland, for the picture. Mr. Aldridge told me that there seems to be a foundation stone for a monument in Lucy's spot, and that the monument probably was destroyed in a series of vandalism which occurred in the early 1900's.
Thank you Lora Carter, for the picture of Andrew's grave. Andrew's birthdate, calculated using the age and death date given here, would be 30 Mar 1849.
